How is PPC calculated in the Power BI dashboard?

If you've downloaded one of our free Power BI dashboards, then you may have questions about how the PPC (percent plan complete) is being calculated.

Here's a quick summary:

The PPC of a task is the percentage of the days of planned work that happened between last week and now (or any two publication dates).

Example:

If you had three tasks;

  • Task A - 3-day tasks all planned to occur in the reference week

  • Task B - 2-day task all planned to occur in the reference week

  • Task C - 4-day task with two days planned in the reference week and two days the following week

With these outcomes;

  • Task A - all three days occurred during the reference week

  • Task B - slipped, and one of the days occurred in the reference week

  • Task C - slipped, and one of the days occurred in the reference week

  • Task A - 3 / 3 days = 100% PPC

  • Task B - 1 / 2 days = 50% PPC

  • Task C - 1 / 2 days = 50% PPC

So your total PPC would be AVERAGE(A, B and C) = 66%
